Monique McDowell

Monique McDowell is the Commanding Officer of the USS Astute and provides a stable presence aboard ship.

Not an officer prone to rash decision, Monique is a seasoned commander and is able to appreciate the bigger picture – one of the reasons why she has been selected to lead the Division in it’s mission of rapid response in both humanitarian aid, engineering support and border patrol duties.

Monique is was previously married but is now widowed – her husband Darrius was a Federation Scientist that was part of a Civilian Expedition to study the ruins of the Reliquary of Ost, when it was destroyed by the Awakening of the Crystalline Entity that had led dormant underneath it for eons in the desert sands of Primar – Majoris#7.

Taking 6 months on bereavement leave, Captain McDowell has recently returned to active duty.

Monique is an experienced officer and appreciates the value of listening. The effective leader considers all available information (including the input of those serving beneath them) before making a command decision, but when that decision is made – it must be with one voice – as it is the Captain’s burden to take responsibility for the outcome.

She is open and accommodating as a CO, placing value in her people and thier abilities.
