Personality

Sora Venn prides herself on being a trusted confidante to many of her crew. She doesn’t see it as just a profession but as a calling. However, she always maintains a professional relationship with all onboard.
She’s an expert in psychological counselling, conflict resolution and stress management. Being a Betazoid she is naturally empathic which assists greatly in her day to day role but sometimes can leave her vulnerable to the emotions of crew and visitors not trained in controlling their emotions. Though, it’s not one that is new to her and something she has built up the ability to manage.

History

Early Life (2371-2393)

Sora Venn was born and raised on Betazed. She was born into a family of empathic counsellors, and unsurprisingly demonstrated her own empathic and telepathic abilities from a young age.

Her family remained civilians, never feeling the need for more than their homeworld provided. Though, Sora was different. She dreamed of being part of a greater community, something bigger than her home. During her teens this evolved into her want to join Starfleet. Seeing the counselling route as an ideal direction to follow with her background.

Starfleet Academy (2393-2397)

She commissioned into Starfleet at 22 years old and attended Starfleet Academy initially to complete her officer training. Following which, she completed her training on the counselling track while studying phycology at Starfleet Medical.

Her natural empathy made her a ‘go-to’ amongst her fellow cadets which also gave her the ideal opportunity to manage her ability to work alongside those who were not as emotionally disciplined.

Starbase Bravo (2397-2402)

Following her graduation in 2397, she looked to the frontier. Initially serving for a short period on Deep Space 7, an important hub away from many of the comforts of the Betazed and the Federation. She served on board the station as a junior member of the counselling team and it gave her an ideal opportunity to hone her abilities within the field.

In 2400 she transferred to Starbase Bravo. Her natural telepathic and empathic abilities, couples with her Academy training, allowed her to assist with interspecies conflict. She also often worked with vessels returning from hazardous assignments, assisting the recovery of the crews when required. During this time on Bravo she continued to learn how to control her mental boundaries. She developed the ability to not be overwhelmed by the constant tide of emotions from those around her,

By 2402, she had earned the promotion to full Lieutenant and a new opportunity to serve on a starship.

USS San Clemente (2402-Present)

She heard, like much of the fleet, of the recovery of the USS T’Kara’s crew after decades of being lost. She quickly volunteered to assist with their care, however, Starbase Bravo needed her services more, However, by 2402, much of the crew of the T’Kara had been posted to the USS San Clemente, she volunteered and was given the position of Chief Counsellor onboard, joining them from the maiden voyage from Deep Space 17.
